Walter Daroshin – Jury ChairWalter Daroshin is the founding President of Troika Productions Inc. Established in 1988 Troika has been active in film and television production, event design and management, business affairs, and publishing. As an award-winning photographer and filmmaker he has travelled on assignment to India, Nepal, Peru, Mexico, New Zealand, China, England, France, Germany, and throughout North America.
A founding Director of the Stein Valley Voices for the Wilderness Society, he is a past Vice Chair of the British Columbia Motion Picture Association, past Publisher of Shared Vision Magazine, and served on the Board of the Vancouver Waldorf School as a Trustee, Treasurer, and Director of Development.
Awarded a CTV Fellowship at the Banff International Television Festival in 1993 and 1994, he has adjudicated the British Columbia Arts Awards Program, the Yorkton Short Film and Video Festival, the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival, and the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s Gemini and Genie Awards. Since 1999 he has presided over various juries of the Leo Awards adjudicating upwards of 800 entries per year.
Troika productions have been broadcast in over 30 countries and screened at over 15 film festivals throughout the world and have been honoured at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, Worldfest Houston, Worldfest Charleston, The New York Festivals, the Yorkton Short Film & Video Festival, the Gemini Awards, the Leo Awards, and the CableACE Awards.
Currently, he is the President of the Leo Awards, a Director of the Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Foundation of BC, and a Director of the Hands In Peace Society. He lives with his wife Tina and their three children in Vancouver, British Columbia.
