Roger Brown’s filmmaking career spans 48 years. During this time he has received four national Emmys, twenty eight national and international first place awards, including grand prizes at the International Ski Film Festival, the American Film Festival, the Sunset Film Festival, and the Cortina Film Festivals and first place awards at the Michigan Outdoor Writers, Trento, Venice, Palermo, Telluride, and Banff Mountain Film Festivals. He has received 18 Cine Golden Eagles and two Cleos.
Brown was listed in Ski Magazine’s 100 most influential skiers of all time and has received a Lifetime Achievement award from the International Ski History Association. He has been a guest of honor at the Telluride Mountain Film Festival on two occasions.
Recently Roger has published a book “Requiem for the West”, which is both a personal story and a collection of essays on the changing Rocky Mountain West. The book has received the Ullr Award from ISHA.
Brown lives on a small farm in the Gypsum Creek Valley in Eagle County, Colorado. Brown’s son’s Gordon, Michael, and Nicolas are all accomplished documentary filmmakers.
