Hans is obsessed with speed. He times virtually everything: driving distances, widget production, diaper changes, loan closings, and newspaper reading. Hans has produced an audio program called "Speed Is Power", currently available in a box set along with 13 other successful authors, the likes of Denis Waitley and Vince Lombardi Jr.
Hans's business degree with emphasis on production operations and HRM gave him his initial insights into, and idea to apply effective speed to nearly everything.
Speed climbing is where Hans has made his biggest mark. Hans literally wrote the book on speed climbing.
He won the first 16 speed climbing events that he entered. He has been the US National Speed Climbing Champion nine times in the past 15 years, and he won the first World Speed Climbing Championship in 1991. Hans won gold at the first three ESPN X-Games.
On rock, Hans has repeatedly set and broken one of the most coveted speed records in the world: The Nose of El Capitan. He also holds numerous speed records in Yosemite National Park and all over the globe.  He is the World’s Fastest Climber.
For the past 24 years Hans has been:  competing, climbing, speaking, teaching, guiding, and adventuring in: North & South America, South East Asia, India, Australia, South Africa, and Europe during which he has won numerous world championships.

Outdoor adventures:
Hans holds numerous solo and team speed records on many of Yosemite's classic big wall routes.   He is one of three humans to solo "The Nose" in a day.  He is the first and only team of two, (or any number), to have climbed El Cap three times in a day and Half Dome twice in a day. Hans is one of fourteen persons to have climbed The Nose of El Cap and The Regular Route on Half Dome in a day. He is also one of two people to climb alone Half Dome and El Cap in a day. Hans Florine is the only person to climb El Capitan twice in a day, solo. He has also guided first and only blind person ascent of El Cap and Mt Kenya.

Hans has ascended 20 of the classic rock and peak routes, from the "50 Classics of North America" book, in 20 days, and he holds the record for fastest ascent of the California 14,000 ft peaks.  Hans has climbed over 60 routes of grade 5.13,(7C+), or higher, repeated one 5.14, and established one 5.14. Hans has been over 21,500 ft on Acongauga, and over 17,000 feet on Shivling.  He also set speed climbing records in Patagonia on the Towers of Paine.

Speaking, Producing, Writing and more:
Hans has produced, spoken, directed, rigged, modeled, edited, written, and acted in projects with: National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Outside, Spire Production's "Painted Spider" video, Italian TV with Lynn Hill, The Climbing Show-Bruce Borowsky, Climb International II-Michael Strassman, HSI Productions, TerraQuest, Jim Thornburg, People Magazine, Men’s Journal, Extreme Connection, Barbara Dewitte Productions, HKM Productions, Sarah Fergusen TV special, ESPN, and various other photographic/commercial shoots. He is also a vertical dancer with Project Bandaloop.  Hans is a contributing writer and photographer to fitness, outdoor and climbing magazines. Co-author of “Climb On” and “Speed Climbing” in its second edition.
