Andy Kirkpatrick is a pioneer of winter climbing in Patagonia with many hair-raising ascents to his name. This hilarious film documents his latest Patagonian horror show, an attempt at the first winter ascent of Torre Egger with fellow alpinist Ian Parnell.
Director Alastair Lee
Filmmaker and climber Alastair Lee has spent the past decade pursuing rocks and mountains around the world. His genuine passion for the mountain environment is best expressed through his superb photography and innovative film work. Alastair is also renowned as one of the UK's most entertaining and outspoken lecturers. Having hit the line up at both Kendal and Edinburgh Mountain Film Festivals he eventually hopes to reach the dizzy heights of Dundee(!).
Alastair has climbed in six of the world's continents but with the arrival of his first son in 2005, the seventh isn't looking likely. Alastair has also written and published two climbing guidebooks and three photographic books. In his sixth year of lecturing, Alastair is currently touring schools with 'The Essence of Life' and Mountaineering clubs/Mountain Film Festivals with his stand up show 'Storms of Laughter'.
As a filmmaker of 12 international awards, Alastair has made seven movies so far: "Made in China" 2001, 20mins), "Climbing in Morocco" (2003, 28mins), "I Am Climbing" (2004, 14mins), and "Twice Upon a Time in Bolivia" (2004, 50mins). In 2005 after the success of working with David Halsted, they created "Storms - The Movie" (2005, 34mins). Their 2006 project "Set in Stone" was a big success and Alastair went solo again for his 2007 project PSYCHE that has just won two awards at Kendal.
Alastair lives with his wife and son in Burnley, Lancashire, and despite his best efforts, remains there.
